The HH18HA416 is a normally closed switch that is designed to open at a specific temperature, usually around 200°F (93°C). When the furnace reaches this temperature, the switch will open, cutting off power to the furnace's heating elements or gas valve, which will prevent the furnace from overheating. The HH18HA416 limit switch is usually located near the furnace's heat exchanger.

Before replacing the limit switch, turn off the power supply to the furnace by switching off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse that powers the furnace. Use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the screws or clips that hold the old limit switch in place. Gently pull the switch out of the furnace and disconnect the wires. Place the new switch back into position and secure it in place with screws or clips. Turn the power back on to the furnace and test the new limit switch by running the furnace and monitoring the temperature.
